Recently we have had a few phone calls in regards to "I am not getting my emails". Maybe you’re thinking, “FireNet1 is keeping my friend from emailing me”. Trust me, we have been trying to keep our filters up to date, and fiddling with the sensitivity of our spam and virus shields. At times our shields would be tight and very little would get through. Then other times we would loosen our filters and shields, allowing to much spam. So either way we would receive tech support calls. Email is a delicate balance. I like to equate it to a tightrope walk over an active volcano. But now we are no longer making these calls. Over the last few months we have subscribed to a service which takes this responsibility off our hands. Email now comes into the FireNet1.com servers and we put each email sent to us into a queue for 30 seconds. Then we send a notification to our spam monitoring company. They review the email address, subject line, and maybe some key words in the body. If the email scores higher than a 90% then the email is deemed spam and it is sent to the dead letter office.

We are glad that we no longer make these calls. We rely upon a company whose exclusive business is to police emails and make the judgment based on their content filtering and their expertise. In fact, we have almost completely worn out our number 1 mail server trying to keep spam at bay. (Very soon, however, we will upgrade our number 1 mail server to a much more powerful machine with 6 GB of memory, multiprocessors, and a Terabyte of disk storage.) FireNet1 does not intend to send funky ads, questionable content to your kids, or overall annoying stuff to our customers. We are allowing the internet to police itself. But know this: if you’re not getting all your email, there is an 88% chance that it’s just spam anyway. By the way, one other interesting note is: 2% of all the email traffic is nothing but viruses or Trojans. Why do we do this? It’s because we care about your on-line experience. Simply put: Our goal is your satisfaction.
